Shelly is a shy psychologist. She leads with reason mostly and not the heart. She has been betrayed romantically in her past, which tends to play a role in how her relation with Michael develops when they meet.Michael is a lawyer who works undocover. He deals mostly with outing and capturing con artists. He lives for excitement and is extremely charming. He is also hilarious in that horrible corny type of way that still manages to engage an audience, whether that be Shelly or us readers.
I loved that Michael seemed to expose the witty and sexy side of Shelley. And I loved how she exposed his need to dominate and capture her heart. Even if that meant stalking her when she went shopping for groceries or buying her a cake at the salon under the guise that it was her birthday when it wasn't.
Their relationship was a self-denial banter that was a bit frustrating but hilarious and heartwarming all the same.
The romance was lighthearted but also took on very serious moments which added depth to the story, their sole characters. You were able to see them grow as characters, even if at times they acted foolishly in terms of their desires. I felt the their epiphanies could have happened a lot sooner. There were times that ths storylagged a little, but all in it was good humorous solid romance if a little unlikely at times. The supporting characters seemed highly undeveloped except for Robin and I suppose that has to do with this being the last book in the series.
I enjoyed this read. Humor was A+. It recieved a three star rating simply because I felt some scenes were unecessary. I think if this story had been slightly shorter, it would have made it a lot stronger.

Not the Marrying Kind Destiny Bay RomancesForever Yours Book 6 edition by Amy Summers Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is the last in the destiny bay series.. I loved the story of Shelly and Harper she thinks he is a con man..all she wants is her cat back... can she trust her judgement when he comes to him can she trust her own heart ?? I was drawn in from the first pages.. the adventure came when you were not expected it..... Helen has a way of making you feel your part of the story and the Characters in it.. I laughed so much at the antics.. I hung to the edge of my bed with the angst..you will have to read the book to know the end of the story.. I detest spoilers.. next is the baby series.. Thank goodness we will catch up with them all again looking forward to reading them....
This review is posted after reading this book from "The Carringtons" boxed set.
The ending to two romantic stories, within this one book.
The undercover Cop, Michael meets his match in Shelley Carrington. A short and torturous relationship, with much denial and fleeing, only to be caught in a HEA scenario.
The stinecond romance has been carried through each book, that of Tag and Mickey, but you best read the book to get the full story.
Another glimpse into the lives of the Carrington's of Destiny Bay.
Not the marrying kind
By Helen Conrad
Shelley Carrington has spent her life being the youngest sibling and always being in the shadows of her brother (Rick) and sister (Kathy) and is now trying to finish her thesis and finally become a psychologist. Shelley learned early not to fall in love since her college sweetheart Barry led a double life that she only realized when she started talking about marriage. She has sworn not to fall for another man that hard again. Imagine her surprise, anger, and other mixed emotions when she meets Michael Hudson a private detective working with the police to form a special unit to catch and punish white collar crimes such as fraud and embezzlement during one of his undercover assignments. She's shocked not only by her desire for him but by the fact that he also has a double life (undercover). His career doesn't allow for relationships and yet he finds himself wanting to know more about Shelley. Can a woman scorned by a past love come to love a new man who works as everything she despises. Can a man who never stays in one place and who loves his undercover job stay and love a woman? This book was just as romantic as the others in the series but also has some problems in each of their characters that we see more in real life. I truly love this series even though short books aren't usually my thing.
Tis is a real good series about a family that is very diverse but yet still have common emotions and family loyalty.
Not The Marrying Kind by author Helen Conrad is a heartwarming and easy romance read. I enjoyed the writing style, good editing, and I would pick up more from this author again. I'd recommend this for readers of light romance.
Having not read any of the other Destiny Bay Books, I was afraid I'd be like the girl who arrived late at the party and missed all the introductions. It wasn't like that at all! I honestly just enjoyed the crap out of this story! The characters were well thought-out, well-developed, thoroughly likable, and just a little nuts (which is how I like both my shrinks and my spies).
I love stories where adventure comes when you least expect it, and love characters who are determined to roll with whatever punches life tries to throw their way.
Thank you for this book. It felt like a gift to me.
Not the Marrying Kind was a cute quick read.
Michael is a man who is used to getting in and out of a situation rather quickly, but all of that changed when he had a chance encounter with Shelley. Shelley sees Michael as a real puzzle that she just can't quite figure out. She has no clue what this man is about. Michael realizes that he really wants to see more of Shelley, but does not her want to be involved in any of the danger that goes along with his job.
Whatever will these two people do? Will they take a chance on the chemistry that they seem to share or will they part ways once Michael's job is done?
Take the time to get to know Michael and Shelley and see what happens.
